A Smart Emergency Staple for Pet Owners

While I haven’t had to use this activated charcoal gel yet and hopefully never will it’s one of those products that gives real peace of mind just having it in the cabinet. If you’re a pet owner you know that accidents can happen quickly and having something like this on hand can make all the difference in a critical moment.
The formulation is designed specifically for emergency use whether it’s accidental ingestion of toxins spoiled food or sudden digestive issues like gas or diarrhea. It’s a veterinarian formulated gel made with organic activated charcoal which is known for its ability to bind and neutralize toxins before they’re absorbed into the system. It’s safe for both dogs and cats which makes it a convenient all in one solution for multi pet households.
One of the standout features is the gel form. It’s far easier to administer than powders or pills especially in high stress situations where time and cooperation from your pet are limited. The beef flavor is also a smart touch as it may help make dosing a little less of a struggle if you ever need to use it.
The bottle is compact and easy to store whether at home or packed with your pet’s travel supplies. It’s the kind of product you hope you never need but will be glad to have if something goes wrong. With its natural ingredients fast acting potential and vet approved formulation it’s a responsible addition to any pet first aid kit.
Overall this is a high quality emergency product that shows real thought in its design and application. I’d recommend every pet owner keep a bottle of this on hand you just never know when you’ll need it.

A great thing for a dog family to have on hand “in case “

As someone who had two incidents where our Rough Collie scouted out packs of gum - I would say that every dog owner should have some form of charcoal, hydrogen peroxide (with a veterinarians OK and directions) AND some form of quick acting glucose. In his younger years my. collie (who had it HARD before the rescue saved him) used to get out pant or if he couldn’t find those he would EAT the part out your pants that covers your nether regions. Well one time
JACKPOT he found some sugar-free gum and ate a couple I got an anxious HONEY….Ummm PLEASE COME HERE !!! I raced to the next room to see my dog teetering about and panting like I screamed “What happened????” He told me well he found my gum and ate a couple questions- I said emergency vet now and on the way he’s like I don’t get it - I said “They use xylitol in most sugar-free gum and their blood sugar plummets and they can die”. He was freaking out and says over and over why don’t they tell people this - 1 shot of glucose and over $400 later he was FINE. So he got rid of all the sugar free things and our toothpaste is on the top shelf of a vanity.. A couple months later (maybe longer) same thing except Tom was bereft because he had no idea where he got it from. Back to the et but I grabbed a container of Mike & Ike’s I had stashed for emergencies. During the short drive I am putting a bunch in my mouth, I masticate it (so the enzymes are already breaking down the sugar) Inslide it between his cheek and teeth and repeat slowly he starts eating it and perking up by the time we got to the vet he wanted to play!

I hope none of these things happen to you but do your own research since vets are becoming more scarce and thematic predictions are the trend will continue dog families are going to need to know if there are are things they can do to make the chances of a good outcome higher.

Great Addition to Your Pet Emergency Kit

I have a pet emergency kit and needed to add activated charcoal. I ordered the Pet Vet Medic Activated Charcoal Gel. It has high quality all natural ingredients with beef flavor. Unfortunately our boys are very curious and love to eat everything around them. Living in Florida I always worry they may ingest something or come across a cane toad that could make them very sick. I wanted to make sure we have activated charcoal available. It includes a dosage chart based on weight of the dog or cat, but it would of been helpful if it included a measuring syringe. It has a long shelf life and I hope we never have to use it, but if we do I will update my review.

No graduated markings on bottle to assist with measuring out a dose

One of our large dogs ate SOMETHING out in the yard and was sick with purple gums a little bit later. We were worried about poison, so tried to give the dog hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. Was extremely difficult to get her to swallow hydrogen peroxide so we took her to the vet and they took care of it. After that incident, I was very glad to get this charcoal to keep on hand in case something similar happens in the future. The bottle has the dosage label printed on it, but I haven't given it to any of our dogs yet so I don't know if the flavoring will work (here's hoping).

My only complaint is that while the dosage is printed on the bottle, I don't really see any graduated markings or way to measure out that correct dosage for your dogs weight. I'm assuming you're supposed to just decide 'about' how much to give them and eyeball it. I never love doing that.

Good to have on hand just in case

File this under “things I hope I’ll never have to use, but would like to have in the house just in case.” I have 3 young cats and regularly foster kittens, so the risk of someone eating something disagreeable is high in our house.
I’m familiar with activated charcoal’s use in humans (I partied a lot in college) so it makes sense to hve it available for pets as well. The ingredients make sense, like bentonite clay for additional adsorption, pectin for a gel texture, and a couple preservatives. There’s also a convenient by-weight dosing guide on the bottle (as well as the box, but you probably tossed that when it arrived).
Thankfully I haven’t had the occasion to use this for its intended purpose yet, but I let one of my cats try a tiny bit and he seemed to like the flavor.
The bottle comes in a box and the bottle itself is also plastic-sealed, but interestingly not at the very top, so some of the gel was starting to seep close to the spout opening. Because the seal doesn’t go up to that portion of the bottle I’m not very sure why it’s there. It just seems like extra packaging we might feel the need to remove in an otherwise already urgent situation.
Overall this seems like a promising product though. I just suggest either plastic-sealing the bottle all the way up or not using that seal at all.
